Position: Medical Science Liaison - Southern California (S. CA & HI)

Job Summary

Medical Science Liaison – Southern California (S. CA & HI). Field‑based scientific medical expert within Ipsen’s U.S. Medical Affairs Neuroscience team, responsible for engaging with thought leaders, investigators, and healthcare providers to exchange scientific insights, support clinical research, and facilitate clinical trial and investigator‑sponsored study efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, gain access to, and develop peer‑to‑peer relationships with regional and national thought leaders, investigators, and providers at academic and non‑academic institutions.
  • Demonstrate and maintain deep scientific expertise on assigned Ipsen products, therapeutic areas, competitive landscape, and gaps in patient care.
  • Engage in ongoing scientific exchange to gather insights about current practice, treatment landscapes, and emerging data.
  • Assist with Company‑Sponsored Studies (CSS) including site identification, initiation visits, enrollment support, and operational feedback.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs and Medical Information services to ensure accurate delivery of medical and scientific information.
  • Respond to on‑ and off‑label questions with integrity and adherence to legal, regulatory, and Ipsen guidelines.
  • Represent Ipsen and US Medical Affairs at scientific conferences, continuing medical education events, and medical meetings.
  • Respond to unsolicited requests regarding investigator‑sponsored studies (ISS) and support ISS submissions, initiation, and closure.
  • Develop and implement a regional territory plan and train and facilitate speakers on Ipsen’s products.
  • Balance work efficiently to execute local medical strategies within planned timelines.
  • Engage in continuous independent learning and attend upskilling programs related to Ipsen molecules and disease states.
  • Differiate Ipsen as the valued scientific partner of choice through innovative initiatives, coordinated strategy, scientific communication, and patient centricity.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with cross‑functional team members and support patient‑focused operations.
Qualifications and Experience
  • 2–3 years of related MSL work experience, including previous migraine/headache experience (neurology, movement disorders, pain additional).
  • Doctoral level in the sciences required (MD, DO, PhD, Pharm

    D, Nursing or equivalent).
  • Fluent in English.
  • Excellent planning, presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain credible scientific relationships with top experts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function on a cross‑functional team.
  • Expertise in synthesizing and communicating medical information clearly to multiple audiences.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines (PhRMA, OIG, etc.) and ability to discuss scientific content in compliant manner.
  • Fundamental understanding of clinical research and the regulatory environment.
  • Excellent project management and leadership capabilities.
  • Strong collaboration skills; ability to travel 50–70% based on geographic size.
  • Preferred: experience with product launches and life‑cycle management.
Compensation and Benefits

Annual base salary range: $185,000–$215,000 USD (MSL) or $215,000–$235,000 USD (Senior MSL). Eligible for short‑term and long‑term incentive programs.
