Job Title [UNION] HVAC Mechanic
Shift schedule:
Mon-Fri (1-9 PM)
- Perform maintenance and repairs to all mechanical equipment and systems.
- Conduct building tours, maintain equipment loss, and report deficiencies for corrective action.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform necessary repairs on HVAC equipment as part of the facility’s preventive maintenance program.
- Adhere to the established HVAC work order preventive maintenance schedule.
- Be proficient in the functionality of the BMS/EMS and understand the sequences required for proper building, equipment and system operations.
- Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests assigned.
- Review, create, and maintain assigned work orders within the maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems including plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop equipment, among others.
- Perform repairs to plumbing fixtures (water closets, urinals, flush valve assemblies, lavatories, etc.).
- Complete all required safety training as scheduled weekly/monthly/annually.
- Maintain a professional, safe and clean environment.
- Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agencies, and company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habits.
- Comply with the uniform dress code while working and maintain a neat and clean appearance while on the property.
- Work efficiently in a collaborative and safety-conscious environment.
- Promote a safe work environment and complete all safety training on time.
- Accept and assist with all assigned tasks, demonstrating flexibility, accountability, and a team-first mindset.
- Maintain technical proficiency in troubleshooting HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Provide critical services as needed and be flexible with shift work and on-call duties.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Use Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Respond to priority and emergency situations, including overtime assignments when required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in commercial or industrial facility maintenance.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; associate’s degree or vocational/technical school diploma preferred.
- Appropriate license or permit for trade may be required (e.g., refrigeration industry certifications, journeyman or master electrician license, low/high pressure boiler license, etc.).
- Must be able to work in a collaborative safety-conscient environment.
- Proficiency with troubleshooting HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Professional proficiency in executing maintenance tasks with accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety protocols.
- Flexibility to provide critical services as needed.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work requests and projects.
- Sense of urgency and personal initiative to succeed.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Availability for shift work, extended periods on duty, and on-call duties.
- Ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift at least 50 lbs of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders) and safely install rigging/lifting devices.
- Ability to crouch, reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine.
- Movement between departments and floors to facilitate work.
- Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
- Ability to read and understand information presented orally and in writing.
- Regular use of vision for reading printed material, drawings, and schematics.

Compensation for the position ranges from $37.01 to $43.54 per hour. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
