The Summit Area YMCA is hiring Assistant Community Pool Managers to support operations at our seasonal outdoor pools in Berkeley Heights and Springfield.
The Assistant Community Pool Manager works closely with the Senior Program Director and Community Pool Manager to support daily pool operations. This role provides hands‑on leadership on deck and assists with staff coordination, safety oversight, and member engagement to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.
This position is seasonal full‑time position, 40 hours each week, which may include nights and weekends. The pay range for this role is $20.00 - $23.00/hour, but based on experience. The active Outdoor Pool season runs from Late May - Early September with some pre‑season work/ trainings.

Core Responsibilities- Support daily operations of the community pools in coordination with the Facility Director and Community Pool Manager.
- Assist with staff scheduling, supervision, and day‑to‑day support to ensure proper coverage and performance.
- Maintain active oversight of the pool deck to promote safety and operational efficiency.
- Reinforce YMCA safety standards and participate in emergency preparedness, in‑service trainings, and drills.
- Serve as a point of contact for staff questions and elevate concerns as appropriate.
- Respond to member questions or concerns professionally and consistently.
- Assist with participation tracking, record‑keeping, and operational reporting.
- Represent the YMCA’s mission and values in all interactions with staff, members, and the community.

Requirements
- High School Degree or Equivalent (college course work / credits preferred)
- Two years’ experience as a Head Lifeguard or Supervisory role.
- Minimum age requirement of 18
- Certified American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard (valid certification)
- Full time availability for during the active pool season, including evenings and weekends
