Accounting Manager – Construction
Berkeley, CA (Onsite)
$140,000–$160,000 base DOE + bonus potential

Our client, a 4th-generation family‑owned and operated subcontractor construction company, is seeking a hands‑on Accounting Manager to lead accounting and financial operations. This is a high‑visibility, onsite role ideal for an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant ready to step into an Accounting Manager position.
What You’ll Do- Lead full‑cycle accounting, month‑end and year‑end close
- Prepare financial statements and management reports
- Manage WIP, job costing, and percentage‑of‑completion accounting
- Oversee cost accounting and project financials
- Handle union accounting, reporting, and payroll coordination
- Assist with lien releases and project documentation
- Complete customer and project pre‑qualification packages
- Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives
- Manage banking relationships, including line of credit reporting and covenant compliance
- Support HR‑related accounting functions (medical insurance, pension programs)
- Serve as the financial lead for the office, supporting ownership and leadership
- 5–10+ years of full‑cycle accounting experience
- Construction industry experience required (GC or subcontractor)
- Strong cost accounting and WIP reporting experience
- Experience with $10M–$20M+ revenue environments
- Hands‑on professional comfortable owning all aspects of accounting
- Vista by Viewpoint software experience REQUIRED
- Ability to communicate professionally with banks and AR customers
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (highly preferred)
