The Development Associate, Donor Relations is the lead administrator for donor engagement and stewardship at CDSS and provides broad administrative support for development activities and programs. The role facilitates programs, events, communications, and outreach across the unit, fundraisers, leadership, and faculty, and manages the department’s general administration. The Development Associate works independently and collaboratively with a wide range of campus staff and faculty and prioritizes competing demands in support of college-wide priorities.

ResponsibilitiesManage the development calendar, schedule donor visits, track fund development plan activities, coordinate with CADS and UDAR on contact reports, gift and pledge agreements, and gift fulfillment. Process reimbursements for CDSS fundraising activities and assist with the development budget review. Provide executive-level administrative support to the Chief Development Officer, including scheduling key meetings for CDSS and campus leadership.
Manage donor stewardship, produce and track acknowledgements, chair reports, and special grant reports. Track and report funds, create bespoke acknowledgements and VIP donor communications for the Dean. Update donor records and ensure data accuracy; manage fund codes and work with UDAR to ensure data integrity. Liaise with UDAR Fund Management and Direct Marketing. Administer CDSS platforms (e.g., Give.
Berkeley.edu, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Mail Chimp, Mergo, Thank View).
Analyze donor knowledge to prepare event and meeting briefings for CDSS leaders, develop solicitation materials, and support fundraising programs. Research alumni, parents, friends, corporations, and foundations to identify prospects. Participate in the transition to a new CRM system.
Organize and implement special events involving donors, alumni, and volunteer leaders; support complex major events managed by the College.
Engage in training, workshops, seminars, and other development activities relevant to the position.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, and customer service skills.
- Sound knowledge of fundraising principles, donor relations concepts, and practices.
- Knowledge of administrative operations including event planning, donor relations, donor stewardship, budgeting, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
- Ability to work both independently and in teams, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Knowledge of the campus and CDSS mission, goals, and activities.
- Professional integrity, discretion, sound judgment, and ability to handle confidential information.
- Solid knowledge of common University applications and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace tools.
- Knowledge of financial analysis, reporting techniques, and HR policies for staff and academic employees.
- Experience with CADS CRM for research, acknowledgements, donor analysis, and stewardship materials.

UCB salary range: $74,700 - $132,900;
Anticipated hiring range: $74,700 - $90,500. Offers are based on qualifications and experience.
