The Berkeley Center on Comparative Equality and Anti-Discrimination Law is a global network of scholars, activists, and legal professionals working to address discrimination and inequality. Founded in 2011, the Center now has over 700 members worldwide.
Position SummaryThe Program Administrator will support the Center by overseeing administrative functions, including event planning, travel coordination, financial management, student worker oversight, strategic planning, development, and publication support.
Responsibilities- Administer day‑to‑day operations for the Center, serving as primary administrative point of contact and liaising with IT, media, and facilities.
- Coordinate meetings and event logistics, including room reservations, catering, materials, and outreach to constituents. Liaise with Business Services Office, Event Services Unit, and other Berkeley Law departments.
- Support Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs: create and monitor registration site, issue invoices, and promote programs.
- Process financial transactions: invoices, reimbursements, vendor issues, grant and gift administration, and budget oversight. Work with Bear Buy, Cal Answers, and development staff.
- Assist in research of prospective sponsors, handle communications with funders, and facilitate travel and lodging for speakers.
- Prepare written materials: mailing lists, web and social media presence, newsletters, publicity materials, annual reports, and other publications.
- Supervise and train student program assistants and volunteers, coordinate hiring, onboarding, and interview processes, and assign tasks.
- Analyze financial and resource data, produce reports, establish event budgets, and support procedural development.
- Maintain institutional memory and contribute to standard operating procedures.
- Engage in professional development and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of administrative operations such as event planning, fundraising, website management, finance, and grants regulations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with diverse populations.
- Solid organizational skills and ability to multi‑task with demanding timelines.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Google Workspace, scheduling systems, video conferencing platforms.
- Ability to learn new computer programs and software systems.
- Detail oriented and capable of independent and collaborative work.
- Strong judgment, initiative, and discretion to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to attend evening or weekend events.
- Interest or experience in anti‑discrimination law.
- Experience with Bear Buy, Cal Answers, or similar financial systems.
- Experience in financial planning and budgeting.
- Experience with print or digital marketing and social media tools.
The budgeted hourly range is $34.69 (Step
4) – $37.95 (Step
8). This is a non‑exempt, bi‑weekly paid, 40‑week, part‑time (24 hours per week) Limited appointment eligible for UC benefits.
