Departmental OverviewThe Berkeley Center on Comparative Equality and Anti‑Discrimination Law is a group of scholars, activists and legal professionals from six continents working together to address discrimination and inequality. Founded in 2011, the group now includes more than 700 members worldwide. The Center’s goals are to facilitate the study of comparative equality, nurture the work of emerging scholars and activists from under‑represented groups and developing countries, connect global legal scholars and anti‑discrimination activity, and serve as a multinational virtual think tank seeking innovative approaches to inequality.
PositionSummary
The Program Administrator will support the Center by performing and overseeing the administrative functions of the Center, including event planning, travel planning, financial planning assistance, oversight of student workers and volunteers, participation in strategic planning and development, and assistance with publications, including online publishing.
ResponsibilitiesAdministers a defined operational program or activities for the Center, which may include finance, facilities, payroll, space planning, student services, event support, communications, informational technology or safety.
- Responsible for the day‑to‑day coordination and general administrative operations of the Center.
- Serves as the administrative point of contact and responds to all administrative inquiries; liaises with IT, Media and Facilities on program needs; exercises independent judgement within defined guidelines.
- Responds to requests for information and ensures that records and information are current and accurate.
- Supports and coordinates meeting and event logistics, including room reservations, catering, materials preparation and outreach to appropriate constituents, liaising with the Business Services Office, Event Services Unit and other departments when planning and executing events.
- Provides support for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs; creates and monitors registration sites, creates and sends invoices, and helps promote and market CLE programs.
- Processes financial transactions, including invoices, reimbursements and vendor issues; provides grant and gift administration support to assure accuracy and compliance; collaborates with Development staff on donations; researches prospective sponsors; facilitates travel and lodging arrangements; purchases and processes reimbursements; administers day‑to‑day program budgets; coordinates and submits funding proposals; ensures compliance with federal and state fiscal requirements.
- Prepares and/or assists with drafting written and electronic materials, creates and maintains listservs and mailing lists, manages web and social media presence, resolves website challenges, and develops newsletters, publicity materials and annual reports.
- Coordinates and monitors the administrative duties of student program assistants and volunteers; supervises and trains student assistants and undergraduate research apprentice students; liaises with HR; coordinates recruitment and interview processes; delegates tasks.
