Departmental OverviewFacilities Services works to continuously improve the campus in partnership with all members of the University community to ensure that classrooms, laboratories, and offices support teaching, learning and research. With over 500 dedicated staff members serving over 10M building square feet and 1100 acres, Facilities Services includes the asset management program, custodial services, maintenance operations, engineering and technical services, environmental services, grounds operations, the Cal Zero Waste program.
PositionSummary
The Energy Analyst serves as a member of the Utilities Engineering team and provides energy management functions by acting as the primary data manager of utility consumption, cost, and billing data across campus utilities systems. This position ensures accurate, timely, and auditable utility data to support day-to-day operations, operational decision-making, and cost recovery through recharge processes. The Energy Analyst analyzes building utility consumption for various systems, including electricity, natural gas, water, sewer, solar, and steam.
By integrating and utilizing data from utility invoices, utility metering infrastructure, and manual meter field reads, this position manages information via centralized systems such as EnergyCAP and SitelogIQ. Through data management, analysis, quality control, and reporting, the Energy Analyst enables transparency into utility usage and costs, supports financial planning and forecasting, and drives continuous improvement in data quality and process efficiency.

- Utility Billing & Data Management - 30%
Perform intake, review, data entry, and processing of utility invoices (e.g., electric, gas, water, steam) for approval and payment, and entry into EnergyCAP, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Validate billing data against rate structures and historical trends; identify and resolve billing issues and discrepancies with utility providers. Maintain organized records for all utility billing transactions. - Recharge Billing Administration - 10%
