Data Instruction and Outreach Librarian - Library Position Overview
Position title: Associate Librarian-Temporary
Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and salary point rent salary scale: https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). A reasonable estimate for this position is $80,349-$102,121.
Percent time: 100%
Anticipated start: As early as January 2025. Start date is flexible.
Position duration: This is a two-year, temporary full-time appointment with the possibility of renewal for one additional year based on funding and performance.
ResponsibilitiesThe Data Instruction and Outreach Librarian works in partnership with the Library Data Services Program to provide instructional services, data support, and outreach to researchers, faculty, and students. Key responsibilities include developing scaffolded data instruction for undergraduates, teaching workshops, consulting on data literacy, ethics, analysis, and visualization, collaborating with subject librarians, integrating AI tools ethically, engaging with the Research Data Management Program, supporting open research practices, participating in library-wide governance, and contributing to shared decision-making.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications
Advanced degree or enrolled in an advanced degree program.
Additional Qualifications- Advanced degree.
- Two years of experience providing reference and instructional services in an academic or professional setting.
- Master’s degree from an ALA accredited institution program or equivalent.
- Demonstrated commitment to Library values.
- Demonstrated analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective instruction and training related to digital literacy, artificial intelligence, technology skills, and/or research data management.
- Experience with Python, R, Jupyter, Git Hub, and/or Unix Shell.
- Participation in The Carp entries or other data science education program.
- Experience working effectively with all staff in a highly collaborative, matrixed environment.
- Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders in an academic environment.
- Experience accessing, creating, analyzing, or manipulating qualitative and/or quantitative data for academic research purposes.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of data ethics including awareness of AI, data privacy, security, and bias.
