Departmental OverviewThe Graduate Division works to guide and assist students from the moment of application for admission, through the various milestones of their programs, to the completion of their degree requirements. We provide academic, personal, and professional support services that are vital to the everyday well‑being and life‑long successes of Berkeley master's, professional, and doctoral students.
As the authoritative resource and chief advocate for graduate education, the Graduate Division ensures the equitable administration of policies governing graduate studies across Berkeley's 14 schools and colleges. As the administrative arm of the Academic Senate's Graduate Council, we partner with the faculty and staff of each program and the deans of each school and college to maintain the world‑renowned quality of Berkeley's graduate education.
The Graduate Division is committed to expanding the diversity of Berkeley's student body and supporting students from all backgrounds, especially those from underrepresented groups, in their academic, personal and professional journeys.
Grad Pro is the campus graduate student career development resource hub. This office supports graduate students through all stages of exploring and preparing for a wide range of careers, within and beyond academia. Grad Pro also works with departments and faculty on developing discipline‑specific professional development programming for graduate students.
Grad Pro's work is guided by the policies of the Graduate Council and its Advisory Committee for Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Scholar Professional Development. The Director reports to the Assistant Dean for Professional Development.
Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Assistant Dean for Professional Development, this position functions as the day‑to‑day program manager of Grad Pro. Located within the Graduate Division's Graduate Professional Development unit, Grad Pro offers advising, workshops, presentations, and administrative services in support of graduate professional development and career exploration to graduate students, faculty, academic departments, and student organizations.
This position functions as the campus wide outreach, advising, and coordination hub for graduate professional development and career exploration resources and initiatives. This position is responsible for promoting professional and career development through outreach, communications, and resource development at all levels of campus, and also serves as the Graduate Division liaison to relevant internal and external partners.

Responsibilities- Hires, trains, and supervises a team of 4 graduate student Professional Development Liaisons (PDLs) for outreach, advising, and communications.
- Manages program improvement processes.
- Researches, designs, and develops presentations, workshops and programs to connect students with professional development and career exploration resources to assist them in meeting their professional development and career planning needs.
- Conducts departmental outreach to design and launch career exploration programming.
- Presents sensitive information about needs assessment and graduate student survey results to department chairs, graduate advisers, staff, and graduate students.
- Oversees communications, including bimonthly Professional Development Digest, and resource development, and uses thorough knowledge of career exploration resources and systems to improve and redesign websites and other supporting technologies.
- Develops and oversees delivery of broad and complex professional development and career exploration focused programs and events in collaboration with campus partners and constituents.
- Provides and oversees career exploration counseling in particularly complex areas that require specialized expertise, such as PhD students who are investigating either academic careers or those outside academia.
