Co-Instructor Pool - Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and the Future Workplace - UC Berkeley Extension
Position Overview- Position title: Instructor (Non-Senate, Non-Tenure Track)
- Salary range: $500 to $2,100 total per course
- Percent time: Part-time by agreement
- Anticipated start: Fall semester or as course needs arise
- Review timeline: Appointments as needs arise; applicant pool remains 9–12 months
- Position duration: Course length 8–9 weeks; 1–3 class meetings per term
Computing, Data Science, and the Future Workplace – an in‑person course scheduled Monday‑Thursday 5–7 pm Pacific Time on the UC Berkeley campus.

- Develop course syllabus, assignments, lesson plans, and deliver lectures, presentations, and learning activities for all scheduled class meetings.
- Participate in required trainings as mandated by UC Presidential policies.
- Use University‑approved course support platforms (Canvas, Instructor Portal, Google Workspace, etc.).
- Review and follow university and departmental policies, logistics, and guidelines on the Instructional Resource Site.
- Respond to program or department requests in a timely manner.
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree.
Additional qualifications (required at start)
- 5+ years professional industry experience since degree.
- Ability to commute to Berkeley, California, for 1–3 class meetings per semester (Monday‑Thursday, 5–7 pm).
Preferred qualifications
- Advanced degree in course subject.
- 5+ years experience in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or managing AI product teams.
- Teaching, training, or coaching experience in a U.S. corporate or academic environment.
- Commitment to inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy.
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills (English).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency or willingness to learn instructional technologies (Canvas, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, file sharing tools).
- Curriculum Vitae – most recently updated C.V.
- Cover Letter – discuss prior teaching experience, approaches, and plans to support inclusive student success.
