Departmental Overview

The Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH) Continuing Education Program provides professional development through a broad spectrum of accredited courses including hands-on training, virtual courses and webinars, and annual symposia. The program draws on expertise from faculty within the Center and also utilizes locally, regionally, and nationally prominent guest instructors. We're committed to providing professional education to serve the occupational health needs of workers and employers, to advancing occupational health equity, and to promoting environmental health where people live and work.

The Continuing Education program is part of the Northern California COEH, based at the University of California, Berkeley, with additional academic programs at UC San Francisco and UC Davis. COEH and its sister centers in Los Angeles and Irvine serve government, industry, schools, health professionals, and the general public through programs and partnerships designed to deepen understanding of occupational and environmental hazards and to prevent disease, fatalities, and injuries.

Activities are grounded in multi-campus, multidisciplinary teaching programs in medicine, nursing, public health, and related fields which educate future leaders in occupational and environmental health, develop new knowledge, and bring the resources of the University of California to the public.

Berkeley Public Health (BPH) aims to improve population health, especially for the most vulnerable, through interdisciplinary collaborations, preeminent education, and transformational research. Established in 1943, BPH is a professional school on the UC Berkeley campus that comprises six academic divisions and nearly 30 research centers and programs. Our department's values include social justice, health as a right, challenging conventional thought, embracing diversity, and creating meaningful impact.

We honor our principles of community by centering and valuing everyone in our community; prioritizing prevention while remaining grounded in social justice; promoting safety and respect; practicing self-care and kindness; and remaining optimistic, hopeful, and committed to change.
