Position Overview
Lecturer Pool — Physics — College of Letters & Science.
Position title:
Lecturer. Salary range: $70,977 – $98,249 (minimum per UC academic salary scales). Percent time:
Part‑time, typically 25%, 33% or 44% FTE. Anticipated start: positions usually begin in January, various times throughout summer and August. Review timeline: applications reviewed in May‑June for fall courses and October‑November for spring courses. Position duration:
Fall, Spring, Summer semesters or academic year. Application window:
Open May 5, 2026; close March 31, 2027. Final date to receive applications:
May 19, 2026 (most recent review). Accept any application up until March 31, 2027, with final consideration if position not yet filled.
- Teach/co‑teach undergraduate lower and/or upper‑division lecture, seminar, and/or laboratory courses in physics.
- Hold office hours.
- Assign grades.
- Advising and communicating with students.
- Prepare course materials, including syllabi, homework assignments, and exams; use a learning management system and/or maintain a course website.
- Manage and mentor graders and/or graduate student instructors.
Basic qualifications (required at time of application):
Master's degree or enrollment in a Master's program.
Additional qualifications (required at start):
Master's degree or equivalent by appointment start.
Preferred qualifications
:
Ph.D. or equivalent, and/or prior college‑level teaching experience.
