A specialist school for 11–16 year olds with a range of SEN needs including SEMH and ASC is seeking a passionate SEN KS3 Teacher & Horticulture Lead. The school blends the best of mainstream and specialist practice to create a nurturing, aspirational environment where young people can thrive, grow in confidence and prepare for life beyond school. Outdoor learning, employability and real‑world skills are central to the school’s ethos.

We are looking for a creative, resilient teacher with experience delivering outdoor education, horticulture or forest school style activities.

The Role

As the SEN KS3 Teacher & Horticulture Lead, you will deliver high‑quality, personalised learning to pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and anxiety‑related needs. You’ll use outdoor learning to build confidence, develop practical skills and support emotional wellbeing.

Key responsibilities
  • Delivering and developing a curriculum tailored to individual needs
  • Working collaboratively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
  • Creating and reviewing short, medium and long‑term plans
  • Setting and monitoring personalised learning targets
  • Assessing, reviewing and reporting on pupil progress
  • Contributing to EHCP reviews, PEPs, LAC reviews and other statutory processes
  • Developing reflective, engaging lesson plans
  • Leading horticulture/outdoor learning sessions that promote independence and life skills
Experience & Qualifications Essential
  • PGCE, QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience working in a school environment
Desirable
  • Postgraduate diploma in SEN
  • Experience delivering a differentiated curriculum
  • Experience delivering forest school, horticulture or outdoor education sessions
