Assistant Professor – Disparities & Education Policy
University of California, Berkeley is seeking a tenure‑track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Berkeley School of Education. The scholarship should address the goals of the Education Policy Cluster of the Othering and Belonging Institute: fostering creative scholarship in K‑12 education policy and politics research, developing inclusive research that engages students, families and communities, disseminating strategy to influence policy decisions, and enriching the intellectual environment of the campus through multidisciplinary scholarship.
Position Overview- Title:
Assistant Professor - Salary range: $80,800 – $128,700 (9‑month academic year); off‑scale pay available.
- Anticipated start date:
July 1, 2026 - Application window:
September 29, 2025 – October 30, 2025 (final date); applications accepted through final date.
- Develop and teach courses in the Policy, Politics, and Leadership cluster, engaging undergraduate and graduate students.
- Conduct research that examines how educational policy and political processes influence access, opportunity, and outcomes across diverse communities.
- Engage in strategic dissemination of research findings to local, state, and national policy discussions.
- Basic:
PhD (or equivalent) in education, history, sociology, philosophy, public policy, law, political science, or related field; or enrollment in a PhD program. - Preferred:
Research expertise in education policy, politics, history, law, race, and disparities; an active research program with academic publishing; experience teaching and mentoring students.
