Position OverviewPosition title:
Lecturer.
Salary: $70,977 – $199,722 full‑time. Salary based on UC academic scale (minimum at appointment).
Percent time: 5–100% (generally part‑time).
Start:
Fall 2026 or later. Position may be for one semester or full academic year, with potential renewal.
- Prepare and deliver lecture courses in environmental and energy law topics.
- Develop syllabi, course materials, and maintain course website.
- Hold office hours, assess student work, provide feedback, assign grades, and advise students.
- Teach in‑person during required law school class times.
- Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent international degree) is required.
- Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
- J.D., Ph.D., M.B.A., LL.M. or equivalent degree, plus a minimum of three years of professional experience in legal practice, judicial clerkship, or law‑school teaching in the United States.
- Or Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of six years of such professional experience.
- Preferred qualifications
- Experience teaching at a U.S. law school.
- Five or more years of legal practice in the United States or another jurisdiction, especially in civil litigation and procedure.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to support all students through an inclusive curriculum and pedagogy.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship not available.
