Responsibilities

The Executive Director of the Robinson Life Science, Business and Entrepreneurship (LSBE) Program leads the continued development of this multi‑disciplinary program on the Berkeley campus, reporting to the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs at the Haas School of Business with a dotted line to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration for Biological Sciences.

  • Student recruitment, admissions, and orientation.
  • Academic advising, coaching, career counseling, and an extensive, multi‑year internship program.
  • Extra‑curricular events, including cohort development and company treks.
  • All budget controls and program policies.
Employer Engagement and Career Education
  • Develop and execute on a career and secondary education strategy for LSBE students.
  • Build a strategic corporate‑partner network to provide internships, mentoring opportunities, and corporate financial support for 100 students annually.
  • Develop, implement, and prepare reports, analyzing student placement data and supporting long‑range planning.
  • Manage industry and alumni network relationships to promote LSBE.
  • Advise students on career and secondary education exploration.
  • Identify needs for skills‑based workshops around internships and full‑time positions.
  • Collaborate with Berkeley Career Engagement and external vendors for workshops.
  • Develop and maintain alumni relationships to enhance the student experience.
Strategic Planning
  • Develop proposals and recommendations for broader strategic direction.
  • Research and summarize best practices.
  • Assess program effectiveness and adjust content, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage strategic and long‑range planning, budgeting, and implementation.
  • Lead research on future LSBE program innovations.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Convene the LSBE external advisory board and other advisory bodies.
  • Maintain engagement to increase student opportunities and secure mentoring and philanthropic support.
  • Collaborate with Haas and Biological Sciences undergraduate programs on best practices and the overall student experience.
People Management
  • Oversight of the LSBE Program Team, including seasonal evaluation team.
Financial Management
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities and revenue streams through corporate engagement.
  • Collaborate with development teams for donor proposals and campaigns.
  • Conduct annual planning and budget process, reviewed by the Assistant Deans, LSBE Board, and Faculty Co‑Directors.
  • Oversee LSBE program operating budget.
Professional Learning and Growth
  • Engage in training, workshops, seminars, and continuing education pertinent to the position.
  • Contribute to a team environment that fosters belonging within LSBE and at Haas and Biological Sciences.

Other duties as assigned. Complete required training on time and engage in opportunities for learning.

Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience in undergraduate or similar programs, including policy and university procedure implementation.
