Position Overview
The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach undergraduate courses in all areas within chemical and biomolecular engineering. Candidates with experience in biochemical engineering laboratories will receive special consideration if an opening arises. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on departmental needs.
This position is in a represented bargaining unit.
- Classroom/laboratory teaching and preparation.
- Managing and mentoring graders and/or graduate student instructors (teaching assistants).
- Holding office hours.
- Assigning grades and advising students.
- Preparing course materials, such as syllabi.
- Using Cal's electronic resources for course management.
- Basic qualifications (required at time of application): A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent international degree) or enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program.
- Additional qualifications (required at time of start): A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent international degree) and 2 years of experience in a laboratory course setting and/or research/professional experience.
- Preferred qualifications: A PhD degree (or equivalent international degree) in chemical engineering or a related field, and prior teaching experience.
