The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology in the Rausser College of Natural Resources at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses in the area of plant and microbial biology should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department.
General duties:
We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach lecture, seminar, and/or laboratory courses in plant and microbial biology, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website.
Qualifications:
Basic qualifications (required at time of application) include an advanced degree or enrollment in an advanced degree program at the time of application. Additional qualifications (required at time of start) include an advanced degree by the start date of the job. Documented experience in teaching one of the biological sciences at the college level is strongly preferred.
