Salary range:
The posted UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step rent salary range for this position is $70,977-$107,412.
Percent time: 44% to 50% per course, depending on teaching responsibilities. 11% for Summer sessions.
Anticipated start:
For Fall semester appointments start August 1 and academic year appointments start 7/1; for Spring Semester January 1; for Summer Semester June 20.
Review timeline:
Appointments for the fall semester are usually reviewed in May, for the spring semester in November, and for Summer in April.
We are seeking outstanding lecturers capable of teaching one or more courses in the undergraduate mathematics curriculum. Courses will be assigned on an as‑needed basis. Willingness to work within the established UC Berkeley Mathematics curriculum and uphold the department’s teaching standards is required.
General DutiesIn addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), maintaining a course website, and using a learning management system (e.g., bCourses at UC Berkeley, Canvas, etc.). For large‑lecture assignments, the ability to manage large classes effectively and supervise discussion sections and graduate student instructors is essential.
Qualifications- Basic qualifications:
Applicants must have an advanced degree or be enrolled in an advanced degree program at the time of application. - Additional qualifications (required at time of start):
An advanced degree is required by the start date. - Preferred qualifications:
PhD (or equivalent international degree) in Mathematics or related field, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and documented experience in teaching college level.
