Lecturer
Salary range: $70,977 - $199,722 (based on UC academic salary scales).
Percent time:
Generally part-time; 5‑100%
Anticipated start:
Fall 2026 or later
Review timeline:
Completed applications will be reviewed should openings arise. Appointments for the upcoming fall semester are usually reviewed between February and June, and July and October for the upcoming spring semester.
Position duration:
Positions may be for one semester or for the full academic year, with possibility of renewal based on need and subject to the terms of the bargaining agreement.
Lecturers will teach lecture courses in various programs such as Law and Technology, Business Law, International Law, Environmental Law, and Social Justice. Key responsibilities include preparing course materials (including the syllabus), maintaining a course website, holding office hours, assessing student work, assigning grades, and advising students. Lecturers are academic appointees in the organized bargaining unit represented by the American Federation of Teachers - Unit 18.
Qualifications- Basic qualification:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent international degree. - Additional qualifications (required at time of start):
- J.D., Ph.D., M.B.A., LL.M., Master’s degree, or equivalent international degree, plus a minimum of three years of professional experience in legal practice, judicial clerkship, or law school teaching in the United States; or
- Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of six years of professional experience in the same areas in the United States.
- Availability to teach in person during required law school class times.
- Preferred qualifications:
- Experience teaching courses in a United States law school.
- Five or more years of legal practice experience in Civil Litigation and procedure.
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills (English).
- Ability to support student success through an inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy.
- Effective organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Curriculum Vitae (most recently updated).
- Cover Letter (limit 300 words): discuss competencies, teaching approach, and future teaching interests, including inclusive practices.
