SalaryThe current salary range for this position is $70,977 - $107,412. The posted UC academic salary scales determine the minimum pay based on rank and/or step at appointment.
Percent TimePart‑time. Up to 33% per course. 11% for Summer sessions.
Anticipated StartAY appointments start 7/1/2026. Fall semester starts 8/1/2026. Spring semester starts 1/1/2027. Summer runs May–August.
Review TimelineThe department reviews applications in May/June for fall scheduling, in October/November for spring course needs, and in February/March for summer scheduling. Applications are reviewed throughout the academic year and leading up to each semester.

The Cal Teach program at Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary non‑tenure track lecturers for its undergraduate STEM education courses, taught in person.
Courses include introductory seminars focused on science or math teaching in elementary and middle schools, Knowing & Learning in Math and Science, Classroom Interactions:
Focus on Equity in Urban Schools, Research Methods, Project Based Instruction, History of Science and Math, and Apprentice Teaching for student teaching support.
General Duties: Teaching or co‑teaching a Cal Teach course includes holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, attending monthly faculty meetings, and preparing course materials. Responsibilities may also include assisting with student field placements in local schools, providing supervision and support to student teachers in their classrooms, and supporting Cal Teach students through the credentialing process. For upper‑division courses, supervision of a graduate student instructor who co‑teaches and supports the course may also be expected.
Successful temporary lecturers will teach or co‑teach one or more Cal Teach courses.

QualificationsBasic qualifications (required at time of application):
- Masters degree (or equivalent international degree)
Preferred qualifications:
- Doctorate (or equivalent international degree)
- At least 3 years of secondary math and/or science teaching experience, particularly within the Bay Area
- Undergraduate teaching experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to multi‑task and balance competing priorities
- Practical experience with scientific laboratory or field research, or science or mathematics education research and program evaluation
