The Department of Astronomy at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for lecturer positions in multiple astronomy courses. We seek a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses in astronomy in the academic year and summer.
Teaching responsibilities:
We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach one or more courses in the undergraduate Astronomy/Astrophysics curriculum. General duties: teaching responsibilities, holding office hours, developing syllabi, assignments, writing exams, supervising Graduate Student Instructors and maintaining a course website. Other duties may be assigned by the Chair as necessary.
Qualifications:
Basic qualifications (required at time of application) include the completion of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) at the time of application. Preferred qualifications include a masters or doctoral degree in astronomy or physics, past teaching experience as a lead or assistant instructor, and practicing astronomers or astronomy educators.
