Position Overview
Assistant Professor – Open Field – Sociology
Salary range: $84,100 – $132,900 (9‑month academic year). Off‑scale salary and additional components may be offered to meet competitive conditions.
Anticipated start date:
July 1, 2027.
The Department of Sociology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor faculty member. The role involves:
- Academic research and publications
- Undergraduate and graduate teaching
- Administrative service

QualificationsBasic qualifications (required at time of application): PhD or equivalent international degree, or enrollment in a PhD or equivalent program.
Preferred qualifications: Receipt of the Ph.D. or equivalent within one year of employment.
