Position overview

Assistant Adjunct Professor, Aerospace Engineering – teaching-focused appointment with limited research responsibilities. Engages in University and public service consistent with assignments as per APM 280-4.

Salary and start

Salary range: The current full-time base salary range for this position is $111,400–$139,200 (9-month academic year). Off-scale salaries may be offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Percent time: This appointment may range between 17% and 100%.

Anticipated start: January 1, 2027, or a mutually agreed-upon date.

Position description

The College of Engineering, University of California, Berkeley, seeks candidates for an Assistant Adjunct Professor position. This position will contribute primarily to teaching and have a limited responsibility for research. It will also engage in University and public service consistent with their assignments, as per APM 280-4.

A primary duty is to teach courses in the Aerospace curriculum, such as the Aerospace Capstone course, AE100. Teaching will include bringing to the class relevant industry or research experience in space or aerodynamic flight. This position will also support the aerospace program. This new major in Engineering has been designed to prepare students for leadership in emerging aerospace technologies, including sustainable aviation, autonomous flight and space exploration.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application):
Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent international degree) at the time of application.

Preferred qualifications
:
Experience teaching undergraduate-level aerospace engineering courses and topics.
