Position: ProTech LAP/ Title I

Reports to: Building Principal or Director of Student Services

Purpose:

In collaboration with LAP/Title Certified Staff and assigned building team, assist students to achieve grade-level academic objectives by working with individual and or small groups of students receiving specialized instruction in LAP and/or LAP programs.

Essential Functions:
  • Implement instructional support for word recognition.
  • Ensures all student records are created correctly, and data is accurate.
  • Prepare and utilize educational materials for use with students.
  • In collaboration with district staff, support student use of Lexia.
  • Collects information from faculty, students, and staff to update records.
  • Collaborates with teachers and other educational professionals, including TOSAs, to provide academic support in support of Tier I and Tier II instruction.
  • Use communication tools and protocols to share information and student learning data with staff and families.
  • Assist with DIBELS screening and progress monitoring.
  • Administer diagnostics when needed.
  • Tracks, collects, and enters student data for end-of-year reporting.
  • Managing, with support, the rank-order data process; uses data to identify students in need of academic support.
  • Maintain files in support of Lexia.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to support role and responsibilities.
  • Participate in up to 3 hours per month of additional paid training. Schedule will be provided upon hire.
  • Other related duties in support of students, special services, and the school district.
Successful performance of this position requires an individual who can demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Facilitation of structured literacy lesson: Demonstrates components of word recognition, including phonological awareness, decoding, and sight recognition, in a one-on-one or small group setting.

Requirements and Preferences:
  • Minimum educational requirements: AA degree or equivalent credits, or passing the Paraprofessional Praxis.
    BA/BS degree preferred

  • Training in evidence-based structured literacy (e.g., LETRS, Orton Gillingham, IMSE).
  • Instructional paraprofessionals, as defined by the state per WAC , are required to complete the Fundamental Course of Study and General Certificate per the state guidelines.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting, preferably delivering intervention services, and/or reading curriculum.
  • Previous experience working with students and/or specialized training in reading instruction may be substituted for BA/BS, but may not be substituted for the minimum educational requirements.
  • Proficient computer skills to include using MS Office and Google suite of products. Experience with educational and/or language software preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to provide own transportation to different school sites.
  • Must be flexible and do additional related jobs as assigned.

Ability to lift supplies, up to 50 pounds

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 50% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
