Assistant Teaching Professor Department of Economics

The Department of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a teaching-track position at the level of Assistant Teaching Professor
, 100% time, open fields. Assistant Teaching Professors are full members of the academic senate and are eligible for Security of Employment, equivalent to tenure.

The responsibilities of Assistant Teaching Professors emphasize teaching large enrollment courses, especially at the undergraduate level, and contributing to the teaching mission of the department. The Assistant Teaching Professor would lead the pedagogical training of the Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs) and participate in the department’s Undergraduate Committee, ensuring that the GSIs and Faculty are aligned in delivering the best instruction to undergraduates.

Assistant Teaching Professors are also expected to maintain professional and/or scholarly achievement and activity, and to contribute to university and public service as senate faculty.

The Department of Economics is among the largest teaching and research departments at UC Berkeley and is consistently ranked among the top five in its field worldwide. The department employs 17 departmental staff, approximately 40 ladder-rank faculty, and maintains a total academic membership of approximately 70 scholars, including joint appointments, lecturers, visiting faculty and active emeritus.
