Job Duties
  • Create white-page designs that will be the foundation for Gen 2 product designs
  • Perform hands‑on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes
  • Work with consulting companies, vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high‑volume production
  • Perform bench testing, hand calculations, and FEA to inform specs and future design direction
  • Release designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc.)
  • Drive verification testing of your design work
  • Present your work at design reviews and drive stakeholder alignment prior to final release
  • Perform failure root‑cause analysis on systems and assemblies
  • Travel up to 10% to other offices or vendor sites
Knowledge, Skills / Education / Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 7+ years industry experience in mechanical design
  • Experience leading design work for complex mechanical systems and structural design, using FEA for structural analysis
  • Proficiency in computer‑aided design (CAD), specifically Solid Works modeling and drafting using GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Proficient in component design for mass manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), especially sheet metal, stampings, weldments and extruded components
  • Proficient with prototyping techniques and working in a machine shop environment
  • Sense of urgency and self‑driven to hit difficult schedule targets
  • Familiarity with mechanical verification testing
  • Familiarity with electro‑mechanical systems, power electronics, or batteries is a plus
