A new Test Development Engineer (NPI & Ops) job opportunity is open with our client in Berkeley. In this role you would report into their System Electronics Development team and contribute to ICT, FCT, and EOL testing in collaboration with supply chain and quality teams.
To be considered for this role you need a bachelor's degree in engineering and 5+ years of manufacturing test experience, demonstrating a strong track record in both PCBA (Board Level) and HLA (High-Level Assembly) environments.
Job Duties- Provide Design for Test feedback to the engineering team, working closely with them throughout the development process.
- Design and document robust electrical and functional test processes capable of a high level of safety and uptime.
- Manage vendor ICT and FCT test fixture development and deployment.
- Define acceptance criteria for test stands and carry out FAT/SAT of test equipment.
- Troubleshoot electronics End-of-line testers.
- Create and own electronics test specifications and test strategy.
- Work with Quality and MFG to execute on the test strategy.
- Execute on DVP&R test items and manufacturing End-of-line tests.
- Build automated test fixture prototypes for prototype PCBA and electronics testing.
- Advanced proficiency in NI LabVIEW and NI Test Stand is required (CLD/CLA certification is a plus).
- Solid understanding of In-Circuit Test platforms, specifically Keysight (i3070) or Teradyne, with the ability to review and optimize test programs.
- Strong experience analyzing test coverage matrices to ensure comprehensive fault detection and optimize testing logic.
- Experience using Python for automation scripting, data analysis, or instrument control.
- Deep knowledge of automated instrumentation:
Experience controlling DAQ systems, Power Supplies, DMMs, and Oscilloscopes. - Strong understanding of communication protocols:
Expertise implementing Automotive (CAN, CAN-FD), Board-level (SPI, I2C, UART), and Network (Ethernet/IP, TCP/IP). - MES & Data Integration:
Experience with SQL databases and data serialization (JSON, XML, Protobuf). - Experience with inspection technologies such as AOI, AXI (X-Ray), and Flying Probe is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% to domestic and international vendor sites for equipment installation, validation, and NPI build support.
