• The scope of your work will include electro‑mechanical system design, prototyping, and integration of large field service tools to be used in harsh outdoor environments.
• One key tool from this project will need to raise and lower heavy components while standing on uneven terrain and transload the components from the lift‑system.
• Design material handling equipment used for lifting, moving, and servicing modules and other components in the field.
• Perform hands‑on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated units.
• Work with vendors and field service engineers to transition designs from the prototype stage to a hardened and weatherized field service tool.
• Perform testing, hand calculations, and FEA to inform specs and future design direction.
• Release designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc.).
• Document system designs, usage guidelines, and validation procedures.
• Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of field service tools.
• Possible travel up to 20% to other offices or vendor site.

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or structural engineering or related field and 10+ years industry experience in mechanical design.
• Experience leading design work for complex mechanical systems and structural design, using FEA for structural analysis.
• Experience in electro‑mechanical system integration, including motors (stepper, servo, or linear), actuators, and drive systems into fixtures.
• Advanced understanding of mechanical power transmission, motion control, gear ratios, and torque calculation is a plus.
• Proficiency in CAD, specifically Solid Works, NX, AutoCAD. Knowledge in Human CAD or Siemens Jack is a plus.
• Proficiency in ANSYS, Solid Works Simulation, or Sim Scale.
• Proficient with prototyping techniques and working in a machine shop environment.
• Sense of urgency and self‑driven to hit difficult schedule targets.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to balance speed, rigor, and safety.
