The Graduate School of Education is a complex academic unit whose mission is to provide leadership in advancing the theoretical base of education, analyze the complex social environments of education, and promote the improvement of educational practice. The School is home to approximately 500 employees located in 2121 Berkeley Way, University Hall, and at other off‑campus locations.
The Business Services Office is one of the School's four administrative units. The BSO provides financial and budget administration, purchasing, payroll, graduate and undergraduate student hiring, time reporting, receiving and support services; establishes policies and procedures for business practices and operations; and serves as the intra departmental control; unit for research and outreach programs and projects performing similar services.
Position SummaryThis position operates independently and provides a high level of analytical, financial and administrative guidance and consultation on accounting, budgeting, financial services policies and procedures to faculty, programs and the dean's office. The role develops, implements, and monitors processes to ensure unit accountability and the delivery of high‑quality customer service. It involves identifying, researching, and resolving complex accounting questions and issues, as well as overseeing day‑to‑day budgetary and accounting operations.

Responsibilities- Applies financial services concepts, including accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, collections, and billing, to resolve issues and to develop business process procedures and policy recommendations that ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as internal financial and audit policies.
- Ensures that all related financial activities meet applicable government reporting and auditing requirements.
- Reconciles accounts; prepares, analyzes, and distributes regular and ad‑hoc reports, including summaries of financial transactions, budget reports, financial projections, and other materials supporting management review and informed decision‑making.
- Processes and/or approves financial transactions including:
Bear Buy requisitions and vouchers; expense reimbursements;
Position Funding Entry, and Salary Cost Transfer requests in UCPath; bluCard purchases; SIS department award entries;
Accounts Receivable invoices. - Coordinates and implements budget allocations.
- Works with management to create a detailed budget and forecast.
- Researches, reconciles and resolves complex financial discrepancies.
