The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for an Intern position. Interns may work up to 19 hours per week for a period of up to one year.
Internships may be available in:
* Mayor and City Council offices
* Engineering and Public Works
* Parks, Recreation & Waterfront
* Planning & Development
* Finance
* Human Resources
* Information Technology
* City Manager's Office
* Public Safety (Police, Fire)
* and more!

Interns must meet the following:
* Currently enrolled full-time or part-time in an accredited college or university in an
undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degree program; OR
* Obtained a degree within the last twelve (12) months; OR
* Must meet requirements as stipulated for an educational, certification, or
licensure program
Applications must be received by Monday, March 9, 2026 at 5:00 PM PST and must include a completed application with the education section accurately filled out and responses to all supplemental questions. Please note that resumes are not a substitute for a completed application.
* If you do not answer the supplemental questions accurately, you will be automatically disqualified.
* Applications are available in alternative formats (audio-format, braille, large print, electronic text, etc.) upon request to ada. Please allow 10 days for production of the material in an alternative format.
The exam process will include, but may not be limited to:
* Application review for minimum qualifications and required documents (qualifying experience will be calculated based on the administrative review date)
* Supplemental Questionnaire Review
Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job-related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification. The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may, without notice, change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate.
Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews.
