Position Summary
The SRA assists researchers in the CRISPR Cures Technology Core to establish a next generation sequencing protocol to capture both DNA and RNA information from human cells.

Responsibilities- PCR from genomic DNA or cDNA to amplify target genes
- Prepare next generation sequencing libraries to sequence the amplified genes or gene products
- Extract DNA and RNA from cultured human cells
- Culture human cell lines
- Analyze next generation sequencing data to identify mutations and quantify gene expression
- Demonstrated proficiency in maintaining mammalian tissue culture cells and performing nucleic acid delivery to them using off-the-shelf technologies such as electroporation and lipid-based delivery.
- Robust practical familiarity and proficiency with kit-based isolation of DNA and RNA from mammalian tissue culture cells.
- Robust practical familiarity and proficiency with the end-to-end process of using PCR to amplify specific genomic loci, including primer design and PCR condition optimization, as well as set up of PCR reactions in multiwell format.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using both agarose gel electrophoresis and PAGE to characterize PCR reaction products.
- Bachelor's degree in biology or relevant major and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Library preparation for next generation sequencing

- This is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position.
- This is a full-time (40 hours/week) career position eligible for full UC benefits.
