Position: Sr / Prin Mammography Technologist, Per Diem (Sign-on bonus eligible)

New hires are eligible for a sign‑on bonus.

Responsibilities
  • 60% –

    A. Area of Emphasis
    • Follow the Medical Center’s values of Everyday PRIDE: professionalism, respect, integrity, diversity, and excellence.
    • Adhere to the AIDET acronym when interacting with patients:
      Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration of the exam, Explain procedure, Thank the patient.
    • Produce ACR‑quality images following departmental protocols for technique, positioning, labeling, and patient identification.
    • Prepare room, equipment, and contrast media; troubleshoot equipment failures; document and report issues.
    • Review exam requisitions and patient information in the radiology information system before imaging.
    • Perform daily quality assurance procedures in accordance with MQSA accreditation.
    • Work safely with ancillary and procedural staff; participate in timeout procedures.
    • Assist in orientation and training of assigned staff, students, residents, and faculty.
    • Maintain constant communication with patients and staff; present a professional demeanor to all patients, co‑workers, physicians, and departments.
    • Under supervision, perform breast imaging procedures and quality control tasks.
  • 10% –

    B. Adheres to Policies and Procedures
    • Use proper body mechanics for patient and equipment safety.
    • Follow radiation safety guidelines and appropriate shielding.
    • Maintain reliable attendance; adhere to hospital and department policies and safety training requirements.
    • Provide excellent customer service to patients, co‑workers, physicians, and other departments.
    • Ensure the work environment complies with infection control standards.
    • Maintain a professional appearance and display the department badge.
    • Follow ARRN Standards of Ethics, MQSA standards for breast imaging technicians, and other relevant guidelines.
  • 15% –

    C. Information Management
    • Ensure clinical data is accurate and appropriately recorded in the radiology and mammography computer systems.
    • Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • 5% –

    D. Leadership / Supervision
    • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • 5% –

    E. Development
    • Attend assigned staff development activities, hospital training, in‑services, and professional meetings or seminars.
    • Recognize and perform duties that may not be directly assigned.
  • 5% –

    F. Performance Improvement
    • Participate in related performance improvement projects for the department and hospital.
  • 5% – G. Budgetary
    • Monitor supply use and check expiration dates.
    • Adhere to productivity monitors and ensure accurate billing codes.
    • Identify opportunities for cost containment.
Other Functions and Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the job, training, and licensure.
  • Assist other departments when necessary.
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of students and new hires.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of a JCERT radiology technology training program.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, with ability to rotate shifts and cover weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to assist at any UCSF Medical Center location.
  • Minimum 3 years of mammography experience for senior level; minimum 7 years for principal level.
  • Reliable, responsible, and timely performance of job duties.
  • Ability to work effectively under any workload or patient volume.
  • Respectful treatment of all individuals, regardless of background or beliefs.
  • Knowledge of the Radiology Information System, patient scheduling, Electronic Health Records, and Breast Imaging worklist selection.
  • Knowledge of the Incident Reporting System.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks with little or no supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ARRT (R) (M)
  • Prefer breast ultrasound experience.
  • CRT Fluoroscopy License.
Required Licenses & Certifications
  • CRT (M) Mammography Certification.
  • CRT (R) Radiologic Technologist Certification.
  • BLS Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification.
  • Proof of mammography‑specific training (at least 40 documented hours) if certified after April 27, 1999.
  • Proof of at least 200 mammography exams in the last 24 months.
  • Proof of at least 15 CEUs in mammography in the last 36 months.
  • Proof of MQSA‑approved 8‑hour digital and 3‑D tomosynthesis training.
  • Proof of initial 25 supervised mammograms.
