Position: Valet Attendant – Doubletree Berkeley Marina $19.18/HR + Tips

Job Summary

The Guest Service Associate is responsible for providing exceptional hospitality services to guests in an attentive, friendly and efficient manner. The Guest Service Associate is responsible for parking and retrieving guest vehicles in a prompt yet safe manner and assisting guests with luggage, including delivery and pick up of guest luggage (where applicable) during arrival and departure.

Essential Functions
  • Maintains pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor; uses guest last names; acknowledges and greets guests within five feet.
  • Uses salutation of the day, welcomes guests, practices proper phone etiquette, posts up in designated areas when not completing tasks.
  • Parks and retrieves vehicles while driving slowly and cautiously; assists guests with bell services and luggage storage as needed; opens all vehicle and hotel doors for guests.
  • Assists guests with directions, taxis, reservations and other inquiries; provides information about outlets, meeting rooms, amenities and local attractions; delivers messages, items or guest amenities; shuttles guests to approved locations.
  • Explains parking rates and retrieval procedures; issues claim checks only after receiving keys; collects claim checks prior to issuing keys; maintains ticket information; calculates and collects revenue when needed.
  • Overall, the total time for all functions is 100%.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or GED (required).
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid driver’s license for the state of work or within a commutable distance; manual transmission operation and parallel parking desirable.
  • Work Experience: One month related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge: Principles and processes for customer and personal services; 24‑hour and military time; rates applicable to time passed.
  • Skills: Read/write standard English; comprehend simple instructions and memos; write simple correspondence; present information to guests, clients and employees; basic arithmetic with money; understand time and rates; operate manual transmission and parallel park.
  • Physical/Other: Ability to talk or hear; sit or stand extended periods; run, walk, handle objects up to 100 pounds occasionally; climb stairs; adjust focus visually; work outdoors with weather exposure; travel up to 5% required.
Authority to Act & Scope

The job is fairly routine, follows established practices, with decisions made within operational instructions. Errors could affect departmental efficiency.

Compensation & Work Schedule
  • Hourly base pay: $19.18 per hour plus tips.
  • Shift differential: $2 based on overnight.
  • Work schedule:

    evenings, Friday through Sunday.
