About the Technical Account Manager Position
The Technical Account Manager (TAM) is one of a team of three TAMs, and reports to the Manager of Sales & Implementation. It is a full-time position and can be in-person, remote, or hybrid, with a preference for someone in the Bay Area or able to travel to the Bay Area occasionally.
The primary goal of the Technical Account Manager is to establish and maintain strong and trusted relationships with our clients, and to ensure their technology is solidly supporting their mission.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining trusted client relationships as the primary point of contact.
- Recommending technology solutions, preparing quotes, and supporting sales growth.
- Partnering with internal technical and project teams to ensure successful service delivery.
- Guiding clients through support, projects, billing, and service escalations.
- Helping clients meet IT, cybersecurity, licensing and compliance best practices.
- Developing technology roadmaps, including hardware lifecycle planning, cloud adoption, and security improvements.
- Coordinating procurement, licensing, renewals, and vendor relationships.
- Monitoring account health, profitability, and contract accuracy.
- Occasionally helping connect clients with after-hours emergencies to a helpdesk technician.
Qualifications for the Technical Account Manager Position

Successful candidates will combine excellent communication skills, sound technical judgment, and a client-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and follow through on commitments.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and translate business and technical requirements into practical, well-scoped solutions.
- Sound judgment in balancing best-practice technical recommendations with client budgets, timelines, existing environments, and long-term supportability.
- Experience reviewing and refining technical documentation, scopes of work, and client-facing recommendations.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation habits, and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Professionalism, integrity, flexibility, persistence, and the ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations.
- Confidence, creativity, curiosity, and a desire to continuously improve processes, client outcomes, and organizational success.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, engineers, project managers, technicians, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- A commitment to staying current with evolving technology, cybersecurity trends, and industry best practices.
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations and/or in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment is strongly preferred.

- Cloud identity and collaboration platforms

- Enterprise cloud administration, including user lifecycle management, permissions, and security best practices
- Hybrid and legacy environments
, including Windows Server domain architecture and Active Directory synchronization - Email platforms
, including Microsoft Exchange Online and Google Workspace, common administration tasks, troubleshooting concepts, and migration planning. - Virtualization and infrastructure concepts
- Network and security fundamentals
, including TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, QoS, WAN failover, and firewall technologies (Sonic Wall, Fortinet, Ubiquiti Uni Fi) - Backup and disaster recovery
, including Storage Craft Shadow Protect, Axcient, and recovery planning - Security and endpoint tooling
, including Duo MFA, Huntress EDR and ITDR, and password management tools such as Bitwarden - MSP systems and workflows
, including Microsoft 365 for Business licensing; experience with the Connect Wise ecosystem is a plus - Apple device and identity management
