Position: Facilities Assistant I

Overview

The Facilities Assistant 1 at Life Long Medical Care is responsible for carrying out a range of manual tasks under the guidance of the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor. These tasks include maintenance and cleaning of buildings and grounds, minor equipment repairs, plumbing, carpentry, transportation of materials, setting up office furniture, and monitoring off‑site storage.

This is a full‑time, 40 hours per week, benefit‑eligible position.

Life Long Medical Care is a multi‑site Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a rich history of providing innovative healthcare and social services to a wonderfully diverse patient community. Our patient‑centered health home is a dynamic place to work, practice, and grow. We have over 15 primary care health centers and deliver integrated services including psychosocial referrals, chronic disease management, dental, health education, home visits, and much, much more.

Responsibilities

The Facility Assistant I position is the starting point for individuals looking to gain experience in the field. Initially, employees work closely with supervision to perform routine tasks while receiving on‑the‑job training. As they gain more experience, they will have the opportunity to work more independently within set guidelines. This position can lead to advancement to Facility Assistant II or III for those who demonstrate proficiency and meet the qualifications for higher‑level positions.

The Facility Assistant II position is a mid‑level role. Employees in this position are expected to perform a wide range of duties under general supervision, following clear guidelines and accessing supervision in more complex situations. They must understand operations and procedures, and be capable of independently completing daily tasks as directed.

The Facility Assistant III role is an experienced level position, performing a wide range of duties independently under general supervision. Employees must have a strong understanding of operations and procedures, be able to complete day‑to‑day tasks as directed, and be capable of training others. The role may involve leading specific areas such as fleet coordination, building security and safety, or liaison for facilities where Life Long’s ancillary services are housed.

  • Independently perform maintenance, repair, and renovation tasks under general supervision.
  • Tasks may include installing faucets, soldering pipes, clearing drains, installing electrical components, painting, and more.
  • Assist with challenging tasks and special projects as required.
  • Provide guidance to external maintenance vendors for new or routine repairs.
  • Conduct employee training sessions.
  • Troubleshoot and fix problems as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Perform minor maintenance and preventive checks.
  • Keep building grounds and parking areas clean.
  • Deliver office supplies and furniture, and handle mail delivery.
  • Assemble, maintain, and repair equipment and furniture.
  • Manage storage retrievals and deliveries.
  • Operate and maintain maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Maintain logs, coordinate work requests, and provide office support.
  • Drive vehicles to transport supplies, equipment, and furniture.
  • Offer custodial services for various areas including medical exam rooms, public restrooms, and lobbies.
  • Carry out tasks assigned to Facilities Assistant I and II.
  • Work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Execute special projects as directed by Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Fulfill any other duties as required.
Fleet Coordination
  • Coordinate the scheduling and usage of fleet vehicles.
  • Manage and maintain vehicle fleet inventory, including registration renewals, licensing, and fleet‑related materials and spare parts.
  • Research and assist with purchasing of new vehicles.
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance and cleaning schedules and coordinate repairs and servicing as needed.
