Test Technician

We are seeking a hands-on Test Technician to support the development, assembly, testing, and validation of advanced electrical, mechanical, and energy storage products. This role combines electrical assembly and testing responsibilities with mechanical fabrication, machine shop work, and prototype development support. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience operating machine shop equipment, and the ability to build, troubleshoot, and maintain test systems and production support equipment in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and wire control panels, test fixtures, and prototype equipment according to established standards.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Fabricate wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and electrical interconnects for prototypes and test systems.
  • Perform crimping, routing, labeling, continuity testing, and quality inspections.
  • Operate machine shop equipment including drill presses, band saws, grinders, belt sanders, and other fabrication tools.
  • Fabricate, drill, tap, cut, modify, and assemble metal, plastic, and composite components.
  • Build, maintain, and modify electrical and mechanical test fixtures, load boxes, and validation equipment.
  • Perform mechanical assembly of equipment, enclosures, fixtures, brackets, and subassemblies.
  • Support prototype builds, engineering development projects, and validation activities.
  • Install instrumentation, sensors, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
  • Conduct soldering, rework, and inspection of electrical assemblies and components.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues involving test systems, equipment, fixtures, motors, actuators, and related assemblies.
  • Assist with setup and execution of testing activities and document results.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment, tooling, and test systems.
  • Inspect completed assemblies and systems for quality, functionality, and compliance with specifications.
  • Recommend process improvements and assist with documentation updates.
  • Maintain an organized and safe work environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Test Technician, Mechanical Technician, Electrical Technician, Manufacturing Technician, Engineering Technician, Maintenance Technician, or a related role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with machine shop equipment, including drill presses, saws, grinders, sanders, and fabrication tools.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly, fabrication, equipment maintenance, or prototype builds.
  • Experience with electrical wiring, cable assembly, harness fabrication, or panel assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment such as calipers and gauges.
  • Basic soldering and assembly experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting prototype development, engineering validation, or product testing activities.
  • Experience with electromechanical systems, control panels, or automated equipment.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting test equipment and manufacturing support equipment.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, issue tracking, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience working in a laboratory, R&D, manufacturing, or production environment.

Work Environment:

  • Hands-on laboratory and manufacturing environment.
  • Frequent use of machine shop, fabrication, assembly, and testing equipment.
