Overview
University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) increases support for and enhances knowledge of UC Berkeley through communications, public outreach, and fundraising. UDAR is responsible for fundraising and donor engagement and works to strengthen unit development offices by consulting and partnering with campus fundraisers. UDAR also handles a range of central activities and services encompassing events, communications, stewardship, prospect development, gift management, database management, and more.
The Student Experience & Diversity (SED) Philanthropy program builds innovative philanthropic partnerships to ensure that belonging, discovery, and financial access are integral to every Berkeley student's education. The SED program primarily raises major gifts in support of student aid, co‑curricular activities, and equity and inclusion. The team interfaces with a broad range of divisions and academic units on campus, and serves as the primary fundraising entity for the divisions of Equity & Inclusion, Undergraduate Education, and Student Affairs.
Summary
The Development Coordinator performs the administrative services and general operations of the Student Experience and Diversity fundraising team (SED). Administrative services and general operations include navigation and execution of a complex unit, departmental and campus‑wide operational systems, coordination of events and meetings in support of SED fundraising activities, collaboration with campus stakeholders to ensure operational alignment, utilization of advancement database system to produce reports, and customer service to key internal and external stakeholders.
This position will also engage in long and short‑range strategic planning in determining the direction and alignment of SED operations with SED fundraising goals.

Responsibilities- Drive essential and defined SED administrative operations, which may include functions such as scheduling, purchasing and finance, vendor coordination, policy compliance, and communicating with high‑level stakeholders on behalf of the SED ED and the entire team.
- Power SED major gift donor engagement through ensuring meeting logistics, communicating with identified parties, and engaging in the preparation of materials.
- Participate in and evolve SED's operating systems through maintaining existing SED operating systems, auditing and updating materials within that system, and using collaborative problem‑solving to recommend and implement smarter, more efficient ways of working.
- Utilize advancement data system to gather and analyze fundraising and operational data, prepare clear reports, and help evaluate the effectiveness of SED's fundraising and operational efforts to develop recommendations.
- Other duties as assigned that support SED, UDAR development/operations, and campus through unique projects or initiatives.
- Minimum two years experience demonstrating the ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
