Veterinary, Animal / Pet Care
Location Berkeley, United States Sector Other Salary $ to $ per annum
A full-service animal hospital in Berkeley where dogs, cats, pocket pets, guinea pigs, and exotics are part of the daily caseload, with three DVMs and roughly three support staff per doctor. The hospital sees around 16 patients per DVM each day, with a mix of wellness, preventive care, urgent and emergency cases. The medical team also handles orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, dentistry, radiology, laboratory work, behavior counseling, vaccinations, microchipping, and pharmacy services.
The hospital is equipped with ultrasound, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, and in-house laboratory capabilities. The team includes three experienced DVMs alongside multiple technicians and assistants, giving doctors approximately a 3:1 support staff ratio and allowing them to make full use of their medical and surgical skills. The practice has built a strong local reputation and maintains a steady client base that supports five-day-a-week operations.
The day-to-day environment is organized and structured around maintaining a manageable workload, with flexibility for both experienced veterinarians and doctors looking for mentorship. Medical autonomy is a central part of the role. Doctors are supported by the hospital team and wider leadership while retaining the ability to make clinical decisions and develop the areas of medicine or surgery they want to pursue.
