Lab Assistant (9605C), Department of Molecular & Cell Biology - 85678 Position Summary

This position is responsible for laboratory duties, including assisting with planning, execution, and data collection for a research project, and working under close supervision.

• Laboratory Support and Experiment Preparation (65%) – Assist with laboratory management and supporting scientific investigations and experiments, prepare buffers and reagents for experiments.
• Data Collection and Analysis (10%) – Record and analyze data.
• Sample Handling (10%) – Collect, prepare, and/or test samples.
• Communication of Results (5%) – Present results to senior staff.
• Documentation and Reporting (5%) – Write reports, reviews, and summaries.
• Professional Development (5%) – Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.

• Working knowledge of research functions.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to assist with research experiments under supervision.
• Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail.

• This is a non‑exempt, bi‑weekly paid position.
• This is an 8‑month, full‑time (40 hours/week), limited (temporary) appointment eligible for UC benefits, with the possibility of extension up to 18 months contingent on funding.
