  • Lead dining services at The Arbor at Berkeley senior living community
  • Create a vibrant, inclusive dining program for senior residents
  • Provide meal service for up to 96 assisted living and memory care residents
  • Supervise, hire, train, orient, schedule, coach, evaluate, and discipline dining employees
  • Direct and participate in safe, appetizing food preparation and service according to residents' needs and physician orders
  • Plan and assist with holiday, special meals, and functions
  • Process diet orders and changes and maintain tracking systems
  • Order food and supplies
  • Inspect dining areas and maintain safe, sanitary kitchen, storage, equipment, and work areas
  • Maintain food temperatures and records according to policy
  • Ensure infection control, fire, safety, sanitation, and Universal precautions are followed
  • Conduct resident nutritional assessments and screenings, explain diets, record preferences, and promote quality food service
  • Maintain records, manage budgets and supplies, and fulfill department head responsibilities
  • Prepare and plan the Dining department budget for Executive Director review and approval
  • Maintain costs within budget guidelines
  • Protect confidential resident care information and report suspected unauthorized disclosures
  • Provide on-site support to other Southwest region communities during dining leadership vacancies or transitions
  • Train and onboard new Directors of Dining Services
  • Provide virtual coaching on ordering, staffing, training, regulatory compliance, and dining best practices
  • Implement and standardize regional dining initiatives, operational standards, and menu programs
  • Share best practices to improve resident satisfaction, labor management, food cost controls, and dining operations
Requirements
  • 5-10 years of experience as an Executive Chef
  • Multi-site management experience preferred
  • Experience in hospitality, preferably in the senior living industry
  • Availability for travel within California, Arizona, Nevada, and Missouri
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with residents, staff, and vendors
  • Strong management skills and willingness to work harmoniously with all staff members
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and assist with events and activities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of senior residents
  • Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of PACS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products
  • Must maintain all required continuing education/licensing
  • Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health License and Certification Division
  • Current Serv Safe certification required as indicated by State / County law
  • Serv Safe Food handler Certification
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers and employees
  • Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
  • Travel by auto or airline may be required
