About the Opportunity

Join a fast‑moving team in the tree care industry as a part‑time Administrative Assistant who splits their time between making outbound sales calls and learning to become a recruiter. This hybrid role requires strong writing and editing, accurate typing, personable phone outreach, and reliable transportation for local errands around Berkeley. Reporting to the Chief People & Strategy Officer, you will support the Client Services Manager with client communications, follow‑ups, and post‑project surveys, and later work within our ATS to source, screen, interview, and forward candidates for open positions.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly rate of $24.00 with overtime at 1.5× ($36.00) per hour.
  • Part‑time placement: 20 hours per week, with potential increase to 30–40 hours per week in Q3 if budget permits.
  • After 90 days of full‑time employment, employees are eligible to purchase benefits—medical, dental, and optical—with PTC contributing 50%. Full‑time employees receive 5 paid holidays, 5 paid sick days, and PTO.
Hours & Culture
  • Part‑time / 20 hours per week, five (5) hours per day:
    Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (lunch 12:00–12:30 p.m.).
  • Casual dress in a relaxed work environment near Berkeley Bowl West.
Key Responsibilities
  • Outbound sales calling, leads/estimates follow‑up, contacting existing customers about new services, and post‑project client follow‑up to gauge satisfaction—document outcomes in CRM.
  • Meet weekly performance targets for calls and candidate pipeline activities.
  • Write and edit clear, concise email templates, job ads, call scripts, interview questions, and candidate communications.
  • Learn to review candidates, send surveys, interpret results, screen applicants, coordinate on‑site interviews, and support hiring/onboarding workflow.
  • Run local errands, deliver or pick up materials, and occasionally take job‑site photos.
  • Provide own transportation; reimbursement for local errands.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree plus excellent written communication and editing skills.
  • Fast and efficient typing.
  • Outgoing, extraverted personality; comfortable making high‑volume outbound phone calls and handling rejection professionally.
  • Ability to spend roughly five hours per day on outbound calls.
  • Reliable personal transportation and willingness to run errands within the Berkeley area.
  • Residence within a 40‑minute commute of Berkeley, CA.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask across sales and recruiting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Experience with CRM (e.g., Salesforce) or ATS platforms (e.g., Breezy‑HR, Workable).
  • Previous outbound calling experience.
