Position: Saturday BOP Writing Camp Teacher

Reports to: Director of Networks & Supports

Dates: February 7, 2026 (teacher preparation & training day)
February 21 – March 28, 2026 (student days – Saturdays)

Pay Rate: According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)

The SDCY Saturday BOP Writing Camp is seeking teachers to provide instruction for the Saturday BOP. A SDCY Saturday BOP Writing Teacher must demonstrate the vision and passion necessary to deliver writing instruction focused on student growth and academic excellence.

Teachers are expected to be present each day of the camp, demonstrate an appropriate professional decorum, promote an atmosphere conducive to learning, manage deadlines, exhibit a culturally responsive mindset, and maintain discipline with energy, integrity, creativity, and drive. Knowledge of Special Education is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement lessons in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social‑Emotional Learning in accordance with SDCY policies and the Saturday BOP Writing Camp expectations.
  • Use PSSA, Keystone, IEP goals & interim achievement data to inform instruction.
  • Deliver targeted/intensive ELA, Mathematics, and SEL instruction with a structured routine focused on writing (curriculum and resources are provided).
  • Establish high expectations and classroom routines to maximize student engagement.
  • Develop strong relationships with students and among students.
  • Develop strong relationships with parents.
Qualifications
  • Middle school teaching or mid-level ELA/SS teacher experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of special education preferred.
  • Strong instructional skills in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and SEL.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and maintain a culturally responsive classroom.
