Experienced Avionics Hardware Engineer - Fighters Mission Systems
Boeing BDS is a global leader in the development, production, maintenance, and enhancement of aircraft, satellites, and weapons.
Position Responsibilities- Serve as the subject matter expert and technical lead for Mission and Safety Computers hardware.
- Lead requirements development, avionics subsystem and system design, integration, subsystem/system/flight test, system verification, production/fielding, and supplier oversight.
- Lead the hardware supplier design team for all Tactical Fighters program needs.
- Develop interface control documents for mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces.
- Investigate and resolve technical problems at subsystem, system, and platform integration levels.
- Develop, implement, and integrate weapon capabilities onto fighter platforms.
- Provide status briefings to internal Boeing stakeholders and external customers.
- Support subsystem testing on the Mission Systems Hardware Support system, ESIL, and during Flight Test.
- Support Safety Critical Functional Thread Analysis for Mission Systems Hardware.
- Support airworthiness efforts for hardware design, development, and implementation.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical) or related field; or equivalent.
- Level 4: 9+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR 7+ years with a Master’s OR 3+ years with a PhD.
- Knowledge of core processing, image/video processing, built‑in test requirements, and safety computing.
- Experience with circuit card assembly design, fabrication, and verification.
- Familiarity with avionics box interfaces (MIL‑STD‑1553, serial buses, RS‑170/RS‑422/RS‑232, fiber/ethernet).
- Knowledge of avionics quality inspection and acceptance processes.
- Experience with software requirements, environments, and platform operational flight program development.
- Experience working closely with the U.S. Government and aircrew.
- Proficiency with DOORS, MSOSA/Cameo, Teamcenter, MS Office & Project.
- Knowledge of military standards and handbooks (MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑704, MIL‑STD‑461).
- Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and functional diagrams.
- Mentoring, coaching, and leading technical projects and teams.
- Position is 100% onsite.
