The position is for a Senior Skilled Project Engineer in Obsolescence Management within the Company Material & Process Technology (M&PT) Defense Systems Team.

Berkeley, Missouri.

Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance. US Citizenship Required. We are engineers, technicians, scientists, and bold innovators creating technologies for aerospace. The St. Louis Area Component Engineering Team seeks a Senior Skilled Project Engineer with over 10 years of experience in Obsolescence Management. The team supports production programs such as F‑22, T‑7, MQ‑25, F/A‑18, F‑15, and various weapons systems, working on legacy and future aircraft, weapons, and technologies.

• Apply engineering knowledge of electrical and electronic components to evaluate alternate replacements of obsolete parts.
• Conduct proactive obsolescence forecasting and monitoring using component monitoring and surveillance tools, predictive obsolescence systems, OEM/supplier surveys, etc.
• Develop obsolescence mitigation possibilities and business case analyses supporting recommended resolution options.
• Help prepare customer contractual deliverable plans and required reports.
• Support project management of obsolescence mitigation processes within product/program IPTs.
• Understand aircraft and weapons design/requirements to recommend new and alternate electrical components for new product development and legacy programs.
• Assist programs in identifying and mitigating obsolescence risk.
• Provide engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, including internal and external resources and customers.
• Respond to changes to SOW, assess impact, and negotiate proposed changes to determine modifications to deliverables, resources, costs, and schedules.
• Support proposal development and estimation, and lead project execution by identifying activities, resources, and events required to complete the work statement.
• Plan, identify, and coordinate resources required over the life of the project or program.
• Define plans for risk mitigation and opportunity; compare actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity, and lessons learned.
• Provide technical, business, and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans.

Duration: 6+ months with possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.

• Knowledgeable of basic electronic components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, transformers, connectors, integrated circuits, etc.) and skilled at researching alternate components using datasheets and other online resources.
• Strong evidence of ability to work as part of a team within a hierarchical organization.
• Good writing and communication skills with a focus on attention to detail.
• Understanding of the concept of obsolete parts and evaluating alternate parts.
• Ten (10) or more years of experience in managing obsolescence management projects.
• Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is preferred, although not required.
