Boeing Defense Space & SecurityRadar Target Generator Design Engineer – Flight Simulation Labs, located in Berkeley, MO.
The Flight Simulation Labs organization supports marketing, design, development, integration, test and training for Boeing military aircraft such as T‑7, F‑15, F‑18, MQ‑25, and B52. As a Radar Test Station Design Engineer, you will be part of a team that develops, upgrades, and maintains integration test sites and their subcomponents for avionics systems integration laboratories (SILs). You will use engineering processes, methodologies and tools to create and refine hardware designs, specifications and architectures for various radar test stations, ensuring alignment with program requirements and objectives.
PositionResponsibilities
- Analyze customer and system requirements to develop basic architectural approaches and detailed specifications for new and upgraded SIL test sites.
- Develop high‑level and detailed designs consistent with these requirements and specifications.
- Develop and maintain radar test station hardware.
- Validate designs through analysis, peer review and standalone testing.
- Identify, track and report technical performance measures to gauge progress and ensure requirement compliance.
- Support supplier management with make/buy recommendations and technical services such as fabrication.
- Integrate designs into existing SIL infrastructure.
- Provide engineering support to stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of these and existing SIL products.
- Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs.
- Engage in significant internal and external customer interaction.
- Maintain configuration management of test station hardware and software.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Security ClearanceThis position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). A Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active. A final Secret Clearance Pre‑Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience)- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
- 14+ years of work‑related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 12+ years with a master’s; or 9+ years with a PhD.
- 10+ years of engineering experience.
- 10+ years of radar systems experience.
- Experience with electrical circuit design and schematic analysis.
- 8+ years of radar systems analysis and design.
- Experience with hardware and software configuration management.
- Knowledge of RF and microwave systems design and related components.
- Aware of real‑time systems constraints.
- Familiar with Digital Radio Frequency Memory (DRFM).
- Understanding of field‑programmable gate array (FPGA).
- Experience with hardware/software integration and testing.
- Experience developing embedded hardware/software architectures.
- Experience with internal radar operations.
- Experience with radar testing.
- Experience with VPX racks and embedded PCs.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools.
Successful candidates must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.
EducationEducation/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering or related fields (e.g., Bachelor). An ABET accreditation is preferred but not required.
