Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Flight Systems Engineering Capability is currently seeking a Lead-Architect
Vehicle Management Systems Hardware Engineer to join the Air Dominance Vehicle Management System (VMS), team located in Berkeley, MO.
You will work across engineering disciplines to help us design elements of the VMS hardware. You will collaborate with our requirement, hardware, software, and labs teams to implement and test your designs. Mechanical, Electrical, Aerodynamics, and other engineers are all welcome – to succeed in this role, you will need to leverage your area of expertise and quickly learn on the job about other areas to develop capabilities for our Vehicle Management System Computer.
You will get to see tangible results of your efforts as you contribute to exciting aircraft development programs in St. Louis.
System Architecture Design:
Expertise in designing complex, scalable, and modular vehicle management system architecturesAerospace Systems Knowledge:
Understanding of aerospace vehicle subsystems, avionics, and integration requirementsHardware Integration:
Strong experience with embedded systems, real-time operating systems, and communication protocolsCybersecurity:
Knowledge of securing vehicle systems against cyber threats and complying with industry security standardsProblem Solving and Troubleshooting:
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in system integration and performanceCollaboration and Communication:
Excellent skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and effectively convey technical concepts.Project Leadership:
Experience leading technical teams and managing system development life cyclesRegulatory Compliance:
Familiarity with aerospace standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, ARP
4754, and safety certification processes
Position Responsibilities:
Design and develop the overall architecture of the Vehicle Management System, ensuring scalability, reliability, and integration with existing aerospace platforms
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, establish design standards, and oversee the implementation of software and hardware components
Lead technical reviews, troubleshoot system issues, and guide the continuous improvement and maintenance of the vehicle management system in compliance with aerospace safety and regulatory standards
Understand and apply job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts
Develop statement-of-work and technical performance specifications
Analyze, translate, and implement customer requirements into system architecture, hardware design and interface specifications, showing traceability throughout the product lifecycle
Defines test and validation approach to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements
Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements and for potential application to internal business strategies
Drive the evaluation and selection of emerging technologies to enhance vehicle system performance, cybersecurity, and data management capabilities
Mentor engineering teams on architectural best practices and ensure documentation aligns with Boeing’s quality and compliance requirements
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Security Clearance:
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
An interim Secret Clearance Pre-Start and Final Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
