Are you a finance professional who thrives on strategy, problem-solving, and making a real impact in local government? The City of Hazelwood is looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Director of Finance to help lead a fast-paced municipal finance department serving a growing community.
This is more than a numbers job; it’s an opportunity to help shape the financial future of a city while working alongside leadership on budgeting, long term planning, audits, capital projects, and daily operations.
What You’ll DoAs Assistant Director of Finance, you’ll work directly with the Director of Finance and play a key role in overseeing critical financial operations, including:
- Budget preparation and financial planning support
- Annual audit and ACFR support
- General ledger and bank reconciliations
- Accounts payable and fixed assets oversight
- Financial software administration and troubleshooting
- Supervising and training finance staff
- Supporting City leadership with analytical and strategic financial insight
- Leading the annual business license renewal process
- Acting in the absence of the Director of Finance, when needed
We’re seeking someone who is:
- Detail-oriented, but able to think strategically
- Comfortable balancing technical accounting with leadership responsibilities
- Skilled in governmental finance and financial reporting
- Ready to contribute ideas, improve processes, and support a collaborative team environment
Preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and governmental accounting
- Experience with automated financial systems (New World experience is a plus)

Salary Range: $98,329 - $124,418
