Medical Physics Consulting (MPC), an One Physics Partner, is seeking a full time Therapy Medical Physicist based in Kansas City, KS to join our growing team located in the Midwest. MPC is a new One Physics Partner and is an innovative and growing medical physics consulting practice servicing clients throughout Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois.
The Role
We are searching for a highly skilled, compassionate Therapy Medical Physicist to join our dedicated team of experts. Our candidates must be well-trained in Radiation Oncology and be able to work in a collaborative team environment. With the opening of a new 71,000 square foot cancer institute in the spring of 2024, we have exciting opportunities for career growth and advancement with training and experience on state of the art equipment.
Clinic Information
- This position is located in Shawnee Mission, KS
- This clinic will be equipped with a Varian True Beam Linear Accelerator, an Elekta Unity MRI Linear Accelerator, a dedicated brachytherapy suite housing an Elekta Flexitron HDR brachytherapy unit and a Siemens Go-Sim CT scanner.
- Treatment planning systems include Mosaiq, Monaco, Aria & Eclipse.
- This role will join a great team of 2 other physicists, 2.5 dosimetrists and 2 physicians.
- Perform weekly and monthly radiation measurements, as well as yearly calibration on all treatment units.
- Monitor equipment in the Radiation Oncology Department to ensure that it is functioning correctly and safely.
- Maintain regulatory agency records and reports.
- Analyze alternative treatment plans and supervise dosimetry treatment planning functions.
- Implement assessment/treatment and care based on the developmental stages of the patient.
- Perform additional duties, as needed.
- Master’s Degree and/or PhD in Medical Physics.
- A board certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics, or board eligibility as demonstrated by graduation from a CAMPEP accredited residency in therapy physics.
- 2+ years of clinical Therapy Medical Physics experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret regulations.
- A willingness to go “above and beyond” for clients and fellow colleagues.
- Demonstrate initiative, organization, and ownership of daily tasks and projects.
- Ability to problem solve by seeking, developing, and implementing viable solutions.
Physical Requirements
- Requires ability to use and move equipment.
- Requires a variety of physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, stopping, lifting, carrying.
- Exposure to radiation, communicable diseases, and other conditions common to radiation therapy setting.
